Melancholy Hill

Elijah woke to his alarm clock blasting On Melancholy Hill by Gorillaz.  Elijah pulled himself out of bed, shaking off the remnants of a hangover.  He had been celebrating with his work buddies on his new promotion to the head of security at the mall.  Elijah felt depressed, he couldn't pinpoint his sadness, because he should excited.  Not only had he received a promotion that promised less work and more pay, but Julie, a secretary at the mall had agreed to go with him on a date on saturday.  As Elijah walked to Casa D' Waffles he admitted to himself that his life was missing something.  Elijah waited in the line for Casa D' Waffles listening to his ipod, he finally was seated in he cafe and ordered the free waffle special.  Elijah thanked his waitress and headed back to the apartments to use the exercise equipment.  Elijah liked to work out a lot, and from what people told him it showed.  He was disappointed that mall security didn't call for any physical enforcement, but he was content, he didn't really have any desire to fight anyone.  Working out made him feel a little better, so he decided to visit the church down the road.  Elijah observed the street around him after stepping out of the castle apartments.  The city didn't look good, trash littered the street, people wandered aimlessly around the sidewalks, and all he could smell was hot trash.  As Elijah walked towards the church he said, "Someone needs to clean this town up."

The Truth Inside

Elijah shuffled out of the subway station after  long day at the mall.  There were several unruly customers at the mall that he had to deal with.  All in all he though to himself, "my life sucks."  Elijah looked up and saw an old blind man crossing the street.  Incredibly the man was not only on the crosswalk, but had crossed the street at the right signal.  Elijah noticed the small cup the homeless man was holding was full of change.  Elijah dug into his pocket grabbed some loose change and walked towards the man.  The blind man stopped as ELijah approached, and when Elijah placed the change into the homeless man's cup, he said, "I have already.  The truth will all its power lies inside me."  As the blind man walked away Elijah contemplated on the blind man's words.  He thought to himself, "What is the truth inside me?"  ELijah returned to his home, where the blind man's words reverberated in his head.

Ordinary

The day started with Elijah drinking a cup of coffee in Casa De Waffles.  Elijah enjoyed a side of bacon and crispy waffles before he returned to his apartment on the seventh floor of the Castle Apartments.  Elijah donned his mall security uniform and cap for the Flenox mall.  He then went to his bedroom to acquire his taser and baton for work.  He raced out of his apartment and down the stairs, he remarked to himself, "I really hope it rains today, the streets look really dusty."  He passed the motel on his way to work, where he saw a couple of dirty alley cats surrounding a homeless man.  Elijah thought to himself, "Maybe he is causing this stench, this city smells terrible."  Elijah continued to the subway avoiding the trash and gum that littered the street.  As he entered the subway Elijah thought to himself, "I should really purchase a new car, I'm tired of traveling in this dingy subway.  Perhaps I'll get a raise for keeping the crime so low at the mall."  Of course he knew that would never happen with his penny-pinching supervisor, Mr. Goldman in charge.  "Maybe today will be my lucky day, and he will finally kick the bucket."  Elijah tossed the thought from his mind and turned to his fellow passenger and said, "Good Morning."
